Bonding in the Mist

Under: taxes

I was going to write a post about the DFL’s current bonding desires, and how they raised our taxes to pay up front for roads and bridges, but have no hesitation to whip out the state’s credit card to fund their pet pork projects. (such as the gorilla exhibit for the Como Zoo, hence the post’s title)

But Craig Westover beat me to it (and by more than a month)…

Pet projects should compete head to head with roads, bridges

The DFL Party specifically has exploited fears about unsafe roads and bridges and frustration with traffic congestion to con us into believing that tax increases are the only way to boost funding for Minnesota’s infrastructure needs. At the same time, they’re using the state credit card to buy presents for the folks back home. That’s not to say that many of those local projects don’t have some value. But that’s not the right question.

You’ve got to love Westover.
