Global Sea Ice Trends
This is a portion of a graph from The Cryosphere Today, a University of Illinois Department of Atmospheric Science website. The full size image can be found HERE. The read line is a plot of total earth sea ice extent (arctic and antarctic regions). The solid black line is the average sea ice extent averaged from 1979 to 2000. This data is from satellites that were not operation until 1979.
This dramatically reveals the large rebound in sea ice that occurred in 2007/2008.
Separate plots are available for both the arctic and antarctic regions separately.
