Further bad news has rocked the Paulsen campaign in the 3rd CD. Following on the heels of the revelation that Erik Paulsen is in fact “Lutheran” and my believe in the “Bible”, comes the release of this blurry photograph, showing a paramilitary member of the Plymouth Occupational Forces meeting in secret with congressional candidate Paulsen.

**** URGENT VOTER ACTION ALERT ****

Breaking news.

Rumors are swirling in the lefty blogosphere.

If true, this could break the 3rd CD race wide open.

Erik Paulsen is apparently Lutheran, and might possibly believe in the “Bible”.

More as it develops.

Saw something interesting in this puff piece in U.S. News & World Report

“In 2006 House races across the nation, Republican veterans did slightly better than nonveterans, but Democratic veterans had no significant advantage over Democrats lacking military backgrounds.”

I guess that 3 1/2 years in the Marines might not help Ashwin Madia out as much as he’s probably counting on.

“Teigen analyzed recent House races, looking only at contests that pitted a Democrat against a Republican, eliminating incumbents who did not have to face a major-party rival. He cast a wide net with respect to veterans; he included anyone with active-duty service, from a theoretical former supply clerk at Fort Dix in New Jersey to a Congressional Medal of Honor winner.”

Compare and contrast,

Ashwin Madia, from an article at MPR by Curtis Gilbert says this.:

“I don’t view them as Indian Americans or African Americans,” he said. “I view everybody as Americans. And Minnesotans, people in our district and people across the country have been very excited at this message. So, we haven’t really been paying attention to distinctions like that.

Ashwin Madia, speaking writing to an assembled group of potential Indian-American donors,  says this:

“There are an estimated 2.5 million Asian Indians in this country, and an estimated 30,000 Asian Indians in the state of Minnesota. We have ZERO Asian Indians representing us in our national Congress. The Indian community of Minnesota could be the first in the nation to make sure an Indian gets elected into U.S. Congress. But only you can make this happen.”

George McGovern, former senator from North Dakota, and 1972 Democratic Nominee for President tells, Aswhin Madia, and Al Franken to back off in this Wall Street Journal editorial.

Ashwin Madia: I’m a proud supporter of workers’ right to organize anytime and anywhere - I support the EFCA. Sepia Mutiny Dec 18,2007

Al Franken: The Employee Free Choice Act is one of those rare instances where the name tells the truth. It offers workers a choice — a choice to be represented by a union that will fight for safe working conditions, fair wages, and a secure retirement. Al Franken Blog 6/26/2008

George McGovern:

Under EFCA, workers could lose the freedom to express their will in private, the right to make a decision without anyone peering over their shoulder, free from fear of reprisal.

and

To my friends supporting EFCA I say this: We cannot be a party that strips working Americans of the right to a secret-ballot election. We are the party that has always defended the rights of the working class. To fail to ensure the right to vote free of intimidation and coercion from all sides would be a betrayal of what we have always championed.

Too bad that Al and Ash have already been bought and paid for by large contributions from Big Labor.

Madia’s Flawed Iraq Policy #1

In a recent interview with Gen Petraeus by Austin Bay, the following was said

MR. BAY: Sir, I also noticed that you commanded Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq, MNSTC-I, as we call it, in June 2004 through September 2005. What is MNSTC-I, sir, and what part does it play in the Coalition operation in Iraq?

GENERAL PETRAEUS: Well, the Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq is the ‘train and equip’ organization, to use the shorthand. It is the organization that has been charged with helping the Iraqi Ministries of Interior and Defense to organize, train, equip, build, in the form of bases and infrastructure, and advise the Iraqi army, navy, air force, marines, and, on the Ministry of Interior side, the Iraqi regular police, station police, patrol police, national police, emergency response unit, and, also on both sides, a variety of special operations forces, these elements and so forth. It’s a very, very large mission.

MR. BAY: So it plays an absolutely fundamental role in the transition to Iraqi control and with Iraqi security forces.

GENERAL PETRAEUS: It does indeed. It helps the Iraqis perform that mission of standing up. And, of course, that enables us, over time, as the enemy’s situation is improved, in other words, as Al-Qaeda, as Sunni extremists and as the Shia militia are reduced in capability, it allows us to reduce our forces and to transition to more of an advisory role and to allow the Iraqis to increasingly take the lead. And that’s something that’s been going on really for quite some time.

Under Ashwin Madia’s “End the Iraq War Responsibly” plan, Madia has U.S. Forces in Iraq doing the following three missions, with only 10,000 to 20,000 troops.

1. protecting U.S. State Department and USAID workers;
2. targeting high-ranking members of Al-Qaeda; and
3. in conjunction with other nations, preventing ethnic cleansing.

Under Madia’s flawed plan, there are ZERO troops for the Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq. No further training of Iraqi troops, no logisitics, no advisors, no further support at all for Iraqi troops.

This is Responsible?

From the Star Tribune:

“The Madia campaign discovered the suspension Wednesday,”

Your welcome, glad to see that Ashwin Madia was able to clean things up so quickly.    But blaming your parents seems a little wussy for an ex-marine.

Sorry about the AP picking it up first though.  That’s tough.

Madia Campaign’s Bogus Excuse

 Madia campaign blames parents

From various sources

Rosenberg said the license lapsed because renewal letters went to Madia’s parents’ house, which he listed as his home address while serving in Iraq in 2006. Rosenberg said Madia’s parents overlooked the mail.

Madia has had at least three addresses since returning from Iraq in 2006. He’s lived in the 5th CD, in a downtown apartment, he’s lived back in his parent’s house, and he’s currently supposedly living in an apartment in Maple Grove Plymouth

According to the State Supreme Court

Under Rule 4 of the Rules of the Supreme Court for Registration of Lawyers, every lawyer “shall immediately notify the clerk of this court of any change of address.”

His license currently lists his parent’s address (or at least it did this morning).

Does Madia still live with his parents, or is this another “oversight”

Ashwin Madia might want to keep his fees up to date, he’ll be looking for employment soon.

From the State Supreme Court

4.         Inactive Status - Minnesota - Income Less Than $25,000.

A lawyer who files with the Lawyer Registration Office on or before the date the lawyer’s registration fee is due an affidavit stating that the lawyer (i) is a resident of the State of Minnesota, (ii) is currently in good standing, (iii) does not hold judicial office in this state, (iv) is not engaged in the practice of law in this state, and (v)  certifies that the lawyer’s or judge’s gross income from all sources, excluding the income of a spouse, is less than $25,000 per year must pay an annual registration fee of $154$157.

UPDATE:

From Minnesota Judicial Branch
Under Rule 4 of the Rules of the Supreme Court for Registration of Lawyers, every lawyer “shall immediately notify the clerk of this court of any change of address.”

The address listed above for Ashwin Madia is his parent’s house in Plymouth.  Madia currently lives in an apartment in Maple Grove Plymouth.  Better clean that one up too, Ash

Life on Mars?

Developing…

The White House has been alerted by NASA about plans to make an announcement soon on major new Phoenix lander discoveries concerning the “potential for life” on Mars, scientists tell Aviation Week & Space Technology.

The key is in the soil and water, and how the two behave together at that site on Mars, not the expected confirmation of water ice at this stage in the mission, Mars investigators told Aviation Week.

From Aviation Week

NASA denying any new developments.

Update:

From NASA

Within the last month, two samples have been analyzed by the Wet Chemistry Lab of the spacecraft’s Microscopy, Electrochemistry, and Conductivity Analyzer, or MECA, suggesting one of the soil constituents may be perchlorate, a highly oxidizing substance.
