Your Welcome
From the Star Tribune:
“The Madia campaign discovered the suspension Wednesday,”
Your welcome, glad to see that Ashwin Madia was able to clean things up so quickly. But blaming your parents seems a little wussy for an ex-marine.
Sorry about the AP picking it up first though. That’s tough.
Madia Campaign’s Bogus Excuse
Madia campaign blames parents
From various sources
Rosenberg said the license lapsed because renewal letters went to Madia’s parents’ house, which he listed as his home address while serving in Iraq in 2006. Rosenberg said Madia’s parents overlooked the mail.
Madia has had at least three addresses since returning from Iraq in 2006. He’s lived in the 5th CD, in a downtown apartment, he’s lived back in his parent’s house, and he’s currently supposedly living in an apartment in Maple Grove Plymouth
According to the State Supreme Court
Under Rule 4 of the Rules of the Supreme Court for Registration of Lawyers, every lawyer “shall immediately notify the clerk of this court of any change of address.”
His license currently lists his parent’s address (or at least it did this morning).
Does Madia still live with his parents, or is this another “oversight”
Non-Payment of Fees
Ashwin Madia might want to keep his fees up to date, he’ll be looking for employment soon.
From the State Supreme Court
4. Inactive Status -
A lawyer who files with the Lawyer Registration Office on or before the date the lawyer’s registration fee is due an affidavit stating that the lawyer (i) is a resident of the State of Minnesota, (ii) is currently in good standing, (iii) does not hold judicial office in this state, (iv) is not engaged in the practice of law in this state, and (v) certifies that the lawyer’s or judge’s gross income from all sources, excluding the income of a spouse, is less than $25,000 per year must pay an annual registration fee of $154$157.
UPDATE:
From Minnesota Judicial Branch
Under Rule 4 of the Rules of the Supreme Court for Registration of Lawyers, every lawyer “shall immediately notify the clerk of this court of any change of address.”
The address listed above for Ashwin Madia is his parent’s house in Plymouth. Madia currently lives in an apartment in Maple Grove Plymouth. Better clean that one up too, Ash
Life on Mars?
Developing…
The White House has been alerted by NASA about plans to make an announcement soon on major new Phoenix lander discoveries concerning the “potential for life” on Mars, scientists tell Aviation Week & Space Technology.
The key is in the soil and water, and how the two behave together at that site on Mars, not the expected confirmation of water ice at this stage in the mission, Mars investigators told Aviation Week.
From Aviation Week
NASA denying any new developments.
Update:
From NASA
Within the last month, two samples have been analyzed by the Wet Chemistry Lab of the spacecraft’s Microscopy, Electrochemistry, and Conductivity Analyzer, or MECA, suggesting one of the soil constituents may be perchlorate, a highly oxidizing substance.
Sacred Cash Cow
In this article byCurtis Gilbert at MPR, about Ashwin Madia’s extraordinarily large cash haul from members of the Indian American community, Gilbert states:
The Madia campaign says it doesn’t track the ethnicity of its supporters or go out of its way to court Indian-American donors.
despite that fact that nearly $160,000 of last quarters fund raising results came from people with Indian surnames.
Madia himself adds
we haven’t really been paying attention to distinctions like that.”
But, a fairly quick Google search comes up with a couple of examples of Madia attending fund raisers held by various Indian-American groups and organizations.
1. Congressional Candidate Ashwin Madia Seeks SoCal Support
2. Ashwin Madia hopes to win congressional race (scroll down for article)
Attending events organized by Indian-American groups held for Indian-American candidates is clearly “going out of its way to court Indian-American donors”.
Maybe Curtis Gilbert can ask them about this. Madia is clearly milking both his veteran status and his ties to the Indian-American community for sources of donors. Nothing wrong with that, but you’d think the Madia campaign could be upfront about it.
Priceless
$50 on a new tie for the debate.
$215 on postage for invitations to the victory celebration.
Coming in third to a dope smoking soccer mom, and some guy named Kevin Ray?
Priceless

Paulsen interview gets great review.
Stuart Rothenberg gives Eric Paulsen high marks in this RealClearPolitics article
Paulsen, 43, is sharp, articulate and politically savvy without seeming overly ambitious or arrogant. He clearly thinks about policy and can talk about it without being boring or long-winded. He is one of the more politically appealing candidates that I have interviewed.
and
His response to a question on immigration policy was the single best answer that I have ever received
The lefty blogosphere has made ridiculous claims about Paulsen not having stances on important policy questions, but without the need for a Republican primary Erik hasn’t had a chance or a need to debate anybody on these issues. Right now, campaigns are focused on raising money and in building a base of supporters. Lefty bloggers (and creepy stalkers) will get there chance to hear Erik’s positions, but on his terms and his timing.
UPDATE:
A further review by Chris Cizzilla of the Washington Post has this to say about Erik
WOW. Paulsen, a sitting state senator, has drawn similar reviews from Republican strategists who believe he is one of the most able candidates they have fielded this cycle.
